My thoughts exactly Gabriel.....as a newbie I echo what you wrote below, and
thanks to everyone else who feels the same way I do - you guys are all
wonderful and thanks for letting me lurk when I'm not contributing....I love
this list!

As a newbie I find this list to be invaluable in giving me hope that
someday that may not be the case. As originator, owner and host for the
last 10 years of another totally unrelated arcane list, and a highly
active business person, I find the maintenance of a list to be the least
of my worries and the free exchange of intelligent, informed, misguided
and outright stupid news to be one of the greatest pleasures of life.
For the most part I lurk on this list. I read the messages, and I look
up the words that I do not understand. I track down the YouTube videos,
I look at the eBay listings, and I send for the CD's that are mentioned.
I was totally fascinated by the depth and dynamic of the discussion on
cotton. For what small amount of interaction that I have made to ask
questions on this list I am totally amazed at how open and sharing and
supportive this community is... and it is in this spirit of a global and
open community that even though I may be an abysmal newbie I keep coming
back each day.
