I'm sure I already sent this but it's not showing up so, here we go again.
This has worked for 2 PCs of mine that couldn't get the tunes to play. Two
different operating systems (WinMx and WinMe) and two different versions of
Media Player (9 & 11).
Firstly, use IE only. Firefox doesn't work (don't know about other
browsers) - it just downloads the file name, not where it is.
First, via control panel/file types, make sure m3u is associated with MP and
also that BOTH "open" and "play" are there (usually it's just "open"). If
not, add them.
Then go to MP "file types" and make MP default for playing mp3 files (check
the box).
That got both my PCs working with m3u files.
A right click on the links opens MP and plays the tunes now.
Hope this works for you as well.

Have you tried playing a second time (just clicking the play button
again)?
Sometimes the stream remains in the temporary internet folder so doesn't
need to stream.
Just a thought.

My setup can't play them either. Also if anyone has a slow connection
they
will be out of luck
as it won't stream fast enough to make sense of it.
I wonder if there is some commercial influence between the different
formats?
Certainly some sites are reluctant to allow samples to be downloaded.
I have yet to hear of anyone not being able to read mp3 files.
