I'm certainly not an expert on this, but I think you would normally make a new
trompette bridge rather than trying to shim it. I'm sure you can get blanks
from a maker, and it's an interesting exercise to see how different chien
configurations affect the buzz. At least that's the obvious step to take if
other adjustments don't work out.
