They're as long as any violin or viola pegs. They're designed to
essentially drop in as a replacement for a standard peg without any
modification of the instrument. In my case, when I installed them I
had holes just slightly too big and so had to ream the holes out to a
larger size than what the instrument was designed for, but the length
was not an issue at all. Having installed them, the only thing I would
recommend now is that you drill out the string hole to a larger
diameter before you install them. The holes aren't quite big enough
for heavy drones unless you drill them out.
