Hi Diana,
Welcome to the amazing world of the Hurdy Gurdy. There is so much to learn
when you first get one. Persistance will pay off so please don't get
discouraged along the way.
We recommend a book called Hurdy Gurdy Method by Doreen Muskett. This is a
must have book for all players. Yes, it is no substitute for hands on
instruction from a skilled player/teacher but it will cover most of the bases
of instruction and introduction to the instrument
We have a couple still in stock and sell them for $55 plus shipping.
You didn't mention what country you live in. We are in Michigan USA and if
you are near London Canada it is a doable day trip (about 4 hrs each way I
think). We do repairs, setups and supply a high quality line of parts for
builders&repairpeole. If you are near London UK then the Musketts themselves
are not too far away.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I have just joined the mailing list, as I have recently bought a Terry
Warrington hurdy-gurdy, and am very interested to be part of any information
sharing.
I have always loved the sound and the look of the instrument, and am really
excited to have finally become the owner of a hurdy-gurdy! However, I am a
novice at playing the instrument, and would really like some advice about where
to find someone who could teach me how to play. I do play the piano and organ,
and also sing, so I have a long musical background, but feel I need specialist
teaching to start me off on the hurdy-gurdy. I would also appreciate some
advice on the state of the instrument I have bought, and whether it needs any
work done on it. I also would appreciate guidance on tuning, as I have never
had to tune an instrument before!
I would really appreciate any advice and information re the above - I live in
SE London, so any teachers would have to be in reasonable distance of here.
Look forward to hearing back from anyone.
With thanks.
Diana (Stevenson)
