Hello Diana
Welcome to our world. Where in S. E London are you? Nigel Eaton is in South
Norwood but I don't know if he is teaching these days as he refered someone to
me for lessons [ I am in Kent]. Les Batons French dances at Hollingbourne near
Maidstone resume in September and there are generally gurdies in attendance so
there will be some support there. Also this Friday [18th july] I will be
playing gurdy with Drohne at The Goose is out Folk Club in East Dulwich. If
this is near you pop along and say hello, we are playing support to Jackie Oats
and will be on at 8pm. Find out more by going to www.myspace.com/philipgmartin
and click-on the Goose is out among my top friends.

Hello,
I have just joined the mailing list, as I have recently bought a Terry
Warrington hurdy-gurdy, and am very interested to be part of any information
sharing.
I have always loved the sound and the look of the instrument, and am really
excited to have finally become the owner of a hurdy-gurdy! However, I am a
novice at playing the instrument, and would really like some advice about where
to find someone who could teach me how to play. I do play the piano and organ,
and also sing, so I have a long musical background, but feel I need specialist
teaching to start me off on the hurdy-gurdy. I would also appreciate some
advice on the state of the instrument I have bought, and whether it needs any
work done on it. I also would appreciate guidance on tuning, as I have never
had to tune an instrument before!
I would really appreciate any advice and information re the above - I live in
SE London, so any teachers would have to be in reasonable distance of here.
Look forward to hearing back from anyone.
With thanks.
Diana (Stevenson)
