How about some christmas controversy (or christmas present, depending on your position):
+1 for applying the Criteria.count() patch in 2.1.8 and be done with it for Hibernate2. If we are going to design a Criteria API in the 3.0/3.1 timeline, it doesn't matter what happens to 2.1.
except users using that .count() patch won't have a migration path to 3.x in the near future.
