Add me to the list of users who have asked to have this small mod to the
criteria API.
In my case, I decided to not use the whole API because of this (small)
missing but critical aspect.

I understand the importance - and as thus I think it would be ok if we could
place the .count() where it is intended to "land" ...if we know that already that is..

To answer your question Max, I would suggest the .count() gets
implements on the classic session and not on the Hibernate 3 session. I
think this solves the issue nicely.

well - looking at the patch, .count() will be added multiple places:

- session
- loader
- criteria

...and we don't have classic for all that....but if .count() anywas would go "there"
then i don't see it as a problem.

you got a point - but it just feel weird to have us add a most-wanted

to a 2.1.x release when we don't want to add new features to that

a H3 that won't have that .count() ...or do you plan to apply it to H3

too ?

I haven't thought about this, I'm just sick about people asking (several

times a week now).
