A MUSLIM BUSINESSMAN�S OATH I make a firm undertaking to carry out the oath below, To my Creator: I am in business not to enrich myself but to earn Halaal, support my family, relatives, the needy and to spend freely in Allah�s path I will regard it as a compulsory duty to learn all the Islamic rules and laws regarding business from the Ulama I will always conduct my business according to the Laws of Shari�ah I will spend my resouces wisely, always maintaining appropriate reserves for difficult times My business will be an excuse; Da�wah towards Islam through word and deed will be my real objective When corrupt traders around me will be doing crooked deals, I will not follow them, but I will always walk the path of honesty and morality To my customers: I will strive to provide the best quality products to my customers I will receive my customers politely and treat them with respect and dignity I will work to cut my overhead costs in order to work on reasonable profit margins I will process all transactions speedily and without error as far as possible I will not misrepresent my products or services to any customer at all I will gladly accept to refund a dissatisfied customer To my suppliers: I will work with my suppliers and distributors to maintain consistency in quality and service I will ensure that I pay promptly as per arrangement, not delaying payment without valid reason To my employees: I will accord them a safe and clean working environment I will grant them fair and equitable remuneration in line with inflation I will give them ample opportunities to develop their skills I will entertain their suggestions, or complaints I will safeguard their rights and respect their dignity at all times I will clearly communicate to them what is expected of them I will allow them reasonable time to fulfil their religious obligations, such as Salaah & Hajj To my competitors: I will not engage in monopolistic behaviour and preclude others from competing with me I will compete fairly without engaging in un-Islamic tactics I will not be envious or malicious towards my competitors in anyway To the community: I will support all efforts for community upliftment I will support the cause of suffering Muslims all over the world -------------------------------------------------------------------------- All views expressed herein belong to the individuals concerned and do not in any way reflect the official views of Hidayahnet unless sanctioned or approved otherwise.
