WASHINGTON, DC - Nov. 21, 2006 (MASNET) Late Monday evening 6 Imams
(religious leaders), traveling from a religious leader's conference in
Minnesota, were removed from their flight and detained in the airport
for questioning. 5 of the detained Imams were from Arizona while one was
from California.
Reports indicate that a passenger sent a note to the flight crew
indicating that "he felt unsafe with the Imams on-board". Eyewitness
accounts have suggested that this was a result of the Imams praying
their evening prayers in the airport terminal. Following their release
US airways refused to allow them on any future flights although they
were never arrested nor charged with any crime. After their 5 hour
ordeal the Imams were left stranded at the airport, unable to purchase
an outgoing flight on any of the remaining airlines.

Rwanda nun jailed over genocide
A Roman Catholic nun has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for her
role in the Rwandan genocide in 1994. Mukakibibi is the first nun
sentenced by a Rwandan court for crimes committed during the genocide.
Two other Catholic nuns were found guilty by a Belgian court in 2001,
and male priests have also faced trial.

Support Gathers for Sunni Leader
BAGHDAD, Nov 20, 2006 (IPS) - The arrest warrant issued last week by the
Iraqi government for Sunni leader Dr. Harith al-Dhari has sent
shockwaves through the government, and galvanised much of the Sunni
population.
Iraq's minister for the interior Jawad al-Bolani told reporters that al-
Dhari was wanted for inciting terrorism and violence. At the same time,
Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi said the warrant was "destructive to the
national reconciliation plan."
Sixty-five-year-old Harith al-Dhari heads the influential Association of
Muslim Scholars (AMS), the leading Sunni religious leadership of Iraq.
Al-Dhari is currently in Jordan; he left Iraq five months back for fear
of personal safety. The AMS is known to have contacts with the Iraqi
resistance, and has been opposed to the U.S. occupation and the U.S.-
backed Iraqi government.
