Pas studies its achievement in general election
ALOR STAR, Wed. - Kedah Pas today held a post-mortem of the party's achievement in the general election. The meeting, chaired by State Pas Commissioner Datuk Fadzil Mohd Noor, was attended by the party's 32 State seat candidates and 10 Parliament seat candidates. Pas won 12 State seats and 10 parliamentary seats in the election, its best result since the 1969 elections when it won three parliamentary seats and eight state seats. In 1995, Pas only won two state seats in Kedah - Bukit Raya and Sala. Fadzil said that strong commitment and good work contributed toward Pas' success in winning the seats. "Those elected were advised to work hard while those who lost were told to continue serving the community as we are preparing the groundwork for the next general election," he added. Fadzil who is also Pas president said Pas would be happy if Tan Sri Sanusi Junid is retained as Menteri Besar. "His appointment will pave the way for Pas to win more seats in the next general election as Sanusi's leadership was one of the factors which led to Pas winning more seats. "The Anwar (former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) factor also helped Pas but not as much as the leadership crisis in Kedah's Umno," he added . |
