BN's Dr Yeow unhappy with reduced majority
SEREMBAN, Wed. - Lukut State Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yeow Chai Thiam who retained his seat in the election is unhappy with the reduced majority. Dr Yeow beat DAP's Lim Fui Ming for the seat with a majority of 2,933 votes compared with the 4,637 majority that he got in 1995. "The surprising thing is that the viral encephalitis problem at pig farming areas in Lukut, which had been stirred up by the Opposition to incite hatred among the people, did not do any damage to Barisan Nasional's image and my credibility. "My concern is for voters outside the pig farming areas, who had been taken in by the lies of the Opposition." Dr Yeow said he had done his best for the constituents. He said there was no reason for voters in his constituency to turn to the Opposition. Dr Yeow, who is known for his many pioneering public projects including setting up the Mawar Haemodialysis Centre, is determined to win back the full support of the people of his constituency by continuing his single-minded service for them. |
