The extraction was presumably the cause, which had been done within a FAT hard disk
I extracted again within the /root hard dick and got the right capitalized name for NEWS (and some others). So I tried again (from a root session )....but failed again: checking for python... /usr/bin/python checking for a version of Python >= '2.1.0'... yes checking for the distutils Python package... yes checking for Python include path... -I/usr/include/python2.5 checking for Python library path... -L/usr/lib/python2.5 -lpython2.5 checking for Python site-packages path... /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages checking python extra libraries... -lpthread -ldl -lutil checking python extra linking flags... -Xlinker -export-dynamic checking whether collected informations are consistent... no configure: error: Could not link test program to Python. Maybe the main Python library has been installed in some non-standard library path. If so, pass it to configure, via the LDFLAGS environment variable, or use the --with-python-incdir and --with-python-libdir directices respectively. ============================================================================ ERROR! You probably have to install the development version of the Python package for your distribution. The exact name of this package varies among them. ============================================================================ [EMAIL PROTECTED] hk_classes-0.8.3]# in fact Python 2.5 works fine in conjunction with the present 74 installed Knoda..... so it seems I need some further help ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
