Goto http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ , select your distro (2006 Community I
guess), your arch (i586, x86_64, ppc...)
Follow instructions to add repositories to urpmi (at least all main,
contrib and updates... plf are repositories for media things such as
mp3, avi decoding and such).
Then a simple: urpmi python-devel will install needed packages.
