I suppose speedwise they're pretty much equal... the main things would be compatibility (i.e libraries), and extendability (i.e would the game be moddable, and if so, would it be in Pascal, C++, or some kind of scripting language), and of course which one you prefer / are best at :)
There are DirectX and OpenGL libraries for Delphi, and I imagine someone has ported SDL to it as well, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I've started to writing my own engine and now I need to make important choice - to write engine in a mix of C++\Delphi, or all the modules in C++? The only thing which stops me not to writing in Delphi is that most of SDK's (sound, graphic, etc) come in C++, not in Delphi.
