EQ and other MMORPGs give constant new content and have a game that is already a MMORPG. There is a lot of difference between these and HL2. I personally play Asherons Call 2, and happily fork out the monthly fee, but I can also see how I'm going to end up canceling after a few more months. There just isn't enough to make it worth the recurring fee, month after month, year after year. Time will tell if Valve can come up with constant new content that makes it worth the fee, month after month, year after year.
I agree that the $40 I paid for HL lasted a *long* time. But....if it had been provided on a monthly fee basis, it would not have been worth the $500 or so I would have paid by now. On that note, let's get back to HL coding. This isn't a friggin bellyache about monthly fee list, it's a coders list :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2003 2:33 PM Subject: Re: [hlcoders] Pay to play response from Gabe Newell.
