You compare code to cars?!? Well, then please make me a 1$ copy of the latest Mercedes and hand it over to me so I can check for security issues to help the company. Money? No its ok, I just don't want that your cars get broken into. Well, if I were the car company and I was sure they wouldn't use the 'copy' for other things I would surely let them do their thing. You really took a bad example for your point Phantom. Anit cheat coders really should have a lot more insight to the source than hackers. And I am sure the only problem is that as a game developer you are never sure there is noone who gives the code out to some false friends.

likeNot sure if this has been mentioned, but what if you release a demo, one multimap, the e3 demo perhaps? that way its all technology that has been seen, and you can begin to see what kind of cheats, hacks and other things that come out, to sort of get a perspective of what the hacking community can and will do with the code?
What im wondering is what the coders will do with the source, ie codersofcheating death, other programs like that that help battle cheating, what does this mean for them? im wondering if use of source code for this typesituation could be allowed? maybe help the community work with youfightingcheats? online form, signing something, im not sure of the legal issues surrounding that. Im just thinking if its for cheats, they dont care, but for someone that is trying to help prevent cheats, they would of course respects valve and its code.
