Members of the community should be
more informed of what Valve is up to, so that we can help out a lot more
with feed back as mod developers

Why should they waste any time with you , or guys like you ? You are
kidding
yourself. The ammount of help and psositive feedback you can give is very
low.
Dont overrate yourself.

would really like to see Valve working with mod teams on a more
personal level, not just big names like Dystopia, but all those mod teams

Dream. Is what you do best. Out here, in the real world, when you want
consulting ,
you pay for it. Valve working with all mod teams on a personal level. Now,
thats a
sight to behold. And in the process they should also learn you guys
elementar C
programming and liniar algebra. :P Gimme a break.

and the devs are just left with what the guys at Valve are able to
provide for us in their free time between major projects

And ? You had expected a goverment grant for this ?

Ben has a lot of points that may or may not be agreed with, but his
wording
and concerns do definatly go to show that he acctually wants to see Valve
produce the best product they can. I think that's the point we would all
like to get accross to Valve, aswell. Members of the community should be
more informed of what Valve is up to, so that we can help out a lot more
with feed back as mod developers. The gap between genuine issues that need
to be resolved and the production team at Valve would be far better off if
they were more in sync with each other. However, illiterate kids going on
about how much they hate the product drives that divide farther and
farther
apart. I would really like to see Valve working with mod teams on a more
personal level, not just big names like Dystopia, but all those mod teams
that should have the right to push the engine with their own creative
ideas.
Almost all the subscribers to this list are genuinly interested, excited
and
fascinated by what can be done with Source and what Valve is capable of.
The
support and interest has been better than some studios, however when the
very group that you want to cater to is left in the dark for long periods
of
time, you will tend to see larger back lashes. The policy of "Don't tell
anyone anything" that was used during the HL2 development, HL2 Release,
DOD:S and even stillon TF2 doesn't seem to work that well when it comes to
updates.

I suppose the really sad thing in the end is, that they are indeed a
company
and they are more likely to gear their policies toward the likes of Dan
Paterlly because mod devs aren't the ones buying up CSS and DODS by the
millions, and the devs are just left with what the guys at Valve are able
to
provide for us in their free time between major projects.
