Thank you all for your replies. I haven't been able to rectify the
crash but I won't pursue it on this list since it just might be some
sort of software/driver/os/pebkac issue.. albeit still broken...FWIW,
here is my system:

OS: Vista 32bit, Directx 10.0
Card: Asus EN8800GTS 320 @ 1440x900
Driver: was NVidia 163.69, but I just upgraded to OEM driver version
163.71 since first post (still crashes)

Model Viewer crashes same as before, no window shown, Face Poser
inits a window then crashes in shaderapidx9 as well. It seems strange
that these would be the only apps on my whole system affected by
this. For now I will just continue changing rez's and blaming dx10 :D
