My Clan made our server a Lan only server Where the server does not show up
in the list but if you have the ip you can still connect buy adding the
server ip to your Favorites.

The easiest way would be to block the port the server is running on
(as long as you dont want a friend to join or something)

Or, if you have a router that you had to open the port in the first place to
get it to work, just close it back.

I have tryed sv_password everyway I can think of and you are still never
asked to enter a pass and can freely join the server.

Or, if your running the server and client on the same machine, a quick way
would be just to unplug that machine from the internet while your doing your
testing.

One think I have not played with is sv_lan. This command maybe working and
if that is so, it would be as simple as starting the server then typing
sv_lan 1 in console of the server or setting sv_lan 1 in your config file or
server shortcut.
