Im sorry but that simply isn't true. I've run a successful CS server for
many years now and back in January I was forced to change IPs to something
with a .200 last digit. My server went from 3000+ connections a day down to
about 150, which was mostly regulars joining to see if they could get anyone
else to come play.

A couple of months ago I changed my IP to a .1 last digit and within 1
minute (literally), the server was full. I went from 150 players a day to
4000 a day in one week. Given that dramatic a change, I guess there must not
be very many "smart" people playing CS.

I don't see how this new system can be good for anyone, both players and
server admins alike. All it's going to do is cause people to join crappy
cable and DSL servers because they're the first ones to come up on the list
and leave the people who are spending small fortunes every month to keep
their servers up out in the cold.

My server is based in Texas and in Texas Comcast uses 12. and 24. IPs. It's
going to take a lot of listing to get up to a 67. server. This is a bad
thing for everyone, despite what you claim.

It SHOULD have been left like it was. While it may not have been the best
solution, everyone at least KNEW what the situation was and as such could
deal with it. Putting a bunch of DSL and Cable servers at the top of the
list for the majority of the players isn't doing anyone any good.

Another thing to consider here is that the ingame browser will NOT list all
the servers. It only shows roughly half of them (Unless this has been
fixed). So, people with an "out of range" IP simply won't show up on the
list at all.

Bad, bad move here, Valve. You're punishing the people trying to provide a
good playing environment for your games.

Smart people wait for the full list after they set their filters.

You're an idiot.

All IP's are good IP's.
