Well,

As far as map change experience, mine are pretty much instant. But I'm on a
dual 2.8 xeon w/ 2gigs of ram and 10,000 rpm hard drives so I got alot of
room to play with on that end.A 2.4 celerson should be enough processing
power for a decent 16-18 man full but like our other esteemed college
said,256mb of ram may be hurting your performance. If you insist on keeping
the DS on your laptop I would suggest upgrading your ram to at least
512,optimizing your O/S and putting a decent size swap file into play. But
you will not get top notch performance off that laptop. But it will be
playable you'll just have to wait a bit longer for map changes.

Thanks for responding,

I know it's not my slow hard-drive because it hardly ever touches it
(virtually no hard-drive activity). I guessed it would only be the speed
of
my proc but I recall a very informative topic where the !minimum!
requirements were said to be an 800 MHz for up to 8 players. I check out
blackvipers as soon as I get home. But personally, I should think that 2.4
ghz should be more than enough... what are the requirements for a 1.6 CS
DS
(up to 10 players)? And what is your experience with map changes?

Micha
