You will more than likely need to recompile the kernel to enable SSE
options     CPU_ENABLE_SSE

This is default when detected on 5.X but 4.X is quite old now and needs
it enabling manually. I'd recommend upgrading to 5.3 if you can.

I'm wondering if it could have anything to do with the library versions
used in these linux emulation packages? This is on FreeBSD 4.10.
