'ED_Alloc: no free edicts
Basically what this error is saying is that there are too many entities on the map at once. Usually associated with too many monsters spawning, or with some mods, killing monsters out of sequence by using noclip etc. and not staying on the given path killing monsters as you go.
Many different factors could be causing this error on Oz servers, but the 'super crowbar rune' is the most likely culprit. Look at several log files where the 'ED_Alloc: no free edicts' error occured and scroll to the bottom and see if there is an entry like this before the crash "player1 killed player2 with the flying crowbar while wearing the super crowbar rune." The logs won't show that a player is throwing 10 crowbars a second into the air, but at least you can usually tell if someone is using it at the time of the crash.
If this is not your problem, make sure your ammo and weapon settings are right. Using the 357 as an example if the clip size(clip_357) is set to 10 and the max ammo for the 357 (max_357rounds) is 30, then a player can have a max of 40 rounds of 357 ammo at once. (30 carried + 10 in clip) you could run into problems when you exceed these limits. Make sure the ammount of ammo a player starts with plus the ammo that comes with the weapon is equal or less than the total ammount that can be carried + held in the clip for that weapon. Also in the 'amount an ammo item gives' section of the weapons.cfg don't set any ammo item to give too much ammo. Like if you have a gun that can hold 200 rounds, don't set the item ammo amount too high like say 200, because it can be picked up by someone as long as they have room to hold 1 round of ammo. Not sure how this causes a problem. I read that this fixed the problem for someone else having the ED_Alloc error with Oz Deathmatch, when I was looking to fix the error on my server. Guess the extra ammo counts against the total # of entities allowed somehow.
If you use the metamod monster_plugin disable it temporarily.

I'm seeing it fairly consistently. I'm also watching a flood of :
SZ_GetSpace: overflow on Client Datagram messages coming from clients that are not doing anything but playing. I know others are running OZ, but it's not doing very well on my box, and I'm not sure why. I'd be interested in hearing from others that are running OZ, and what their experiences are with the current version. I've switched back to valve to see if the stability issues go away or not.

hlds 47/1.1.2.0, OZ
L 04/24/2005 - 00:05:33: FATAL ERROR (shutting down): ED_Alloc: no free edicts FATAL ERROR (shutting down): ED_Alloc: no free edicts
We've talked about this off and on in the past, but did we ever decide anything definitive? Is there a fix for this, or is this a bug in the mod? This occurs on mario_kart. I've been running mario_kart for a long long time, and in OP4 and hlds it seems to be rock solid. With OZ it won't run 5 minutes, making me think this is an OZ issue. Is there any settings that can help to prevent this?
