What a load of tosh! I think it makes more sense to top post, and no, not because Microsoft is popular and I unwittingly follow whatever bill wants me to. I read from the bottom of my unread email list up to the top, and if the replies are all at the top of the message then it's very easy to follow. If you bottom post and trim then where on earth am I supposed to start reading? Do I read only the last email on the topic and perhaps miss all the important points (because someone helpfully trimmed them out), or do I read all the emails and end up scrolling through 15 messages reading the same information 15 times. Microsoft are popular for a reason, perhaps because they make good software.
You a pine user by any chance ;) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of m0gely Sent: 25 May 2005 19:23 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [hlds] HOLY CRAP WTF?! The thing is MS got popular, and as such, whatever MS does the masses unwittingly follow. Reading posts from top to bottom makes more sense, it's just not what most are used to because Outlook trained people differently. Trimming out all the fluff and just leaving the relevant parts of the original message there is appropriate, while leaving several long replies in the message is not appropriate. > Duly trimmed. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
