You could always test it yourself by disconnecting your "Intarweb"
connection, turn on the server, set SV_LAN 1 and see what happens when you
try to connect with your client PC.

Subject: [hlds] setting up dedicated CS:S LAN server

Hi all.

My apologies if this question has been asked many times before, but I'm
going to a LAN party soon and I want to take along a CS:Source server. The
snag is that there's no internet connection there, so I'm wondering how
Steam authentication will work ( ok not). But also if a client has outdated
files, how can the server be setup that it will distribute the correct files
to the clients? Is there some place where I can download files from earlier
patch versions?

At this LAN the large majority of players going to play CS:Source will have
original copies of the game, including authentic Steam accounts and wouldn't
like to see them screwed up in any way.

Can anybody help me here? I've tried google searching for answers but
there's loads of CS: Source/ CS 1.6 sites and none seem to provide me the
answer I need.

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

Edwin
