I am running the AMD 64 Bit on WinX64 and found the following:
1) I am not running 32 bit compatable by configuration. I am running loading under the 64 bit and allowing the WOW64 to address the compatability issue. 2) As for performance. I feel I have seen a better performance issue. The Server is more stable and definitly running smoother. 3) around the corner I am stepping up the Single Core to a Dual. Note: You will hear people state right here Steam does not support 64 Bit only on the 32 Bit. But I can speak from first hand experience. Alfred and the team at Valve have been very receptive to assisting and fixing any issue noted on the 64 bit O/S. -Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Whisper" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "HLDS" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 25, 2005 8:23 PM Subject: [hlds] SRCDS and 64bit CPU's
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I understand that if we had 64bit CPU's we would have to run them in 32bit compatibility mode if we wanted to run SRCDS, is this still correct? Are there any other issues with SRCDS on 64bit CPU's that any of you are aware of? For those of you running SRCDS on 64bit CPU's are you finding the performance better or worse on 64bit CPU's as opposed to their 32bit brothers? Or more to the point, are you finding the performance better or worse for the corresponding amount of money you have paid for 64bit CPU's? Is there any time frame on a 64bit version of SRCDS becoming available within the foreseeable future, or is it a project still very much on the back burner?
