Preach it brother! I was going to, but I had to run home
and iron my toaster cozy. (In many areas that's called humor, folks.)

This is a very significant complaint. Granted, the two are
so different as to need separate gen-trees, but in my estimation Valve
is overlooking a significant resource in the number of people willing
to help them overcome this problem.

It's noteworthy that Valve is the only publisher/writer around
that will listen to these complaints seriously. It's also noteworthy
that there's still a bug list a mile long. Valve's revenue stream
and internal priority list will take precedence, of course, but perhaps
a bugtracker wiki or the like would be useful so we can get updates?
Something other than the forums, I'm thinking of a place where both
server admins and developers can share ideas without suffering the
slings and arrows of "Me too" and "Fix this now" and "You suxors!"
so prevalent in a public forum, and with membership comes the
ability to beta-test potential rollouts. Valve cannot possibly
simulate all of our situations, why not make use of a voluntary
community to better the testing process? Admins who have CS:S as
a revenue stream can test while not affecting production, and folks
at home with a P133 under Slakware or Win98 can add to it.

Speaking of bugs, the free DoD:S weekend brought them out of
the woodwork. I don't think I'm telling the cheaters anything new
when I state that the ability to create a new Steam ID on the fly
helped a lot of folks test VAC2 without fear of reprisal. Just
tonight on DOD:S I saw a reload-bypass script, I believe a
wallhack (I'd like a second opinion before claiming that one),
and a few other goodies. If Vac isn't updated based upon
informaton gleaned soon it's going to be CS6 all over again.
