Question:
I am attempting to install "Amx Mod X" and it is asking me what type of
server I have.
I believe I have a Standalone Server as I perform the following steps to
launch it:
cd "C:\HLServer"
start /HIGH .\hlds.exe -network 10.10.0.30 -port 27016 -game
czero +exec server.cfg
And I perform this step to keep it updated:
HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game czero -dir .
-verify_all
Still, I get this error from the "Amx Mod X" installer:
"You haven't installed Half-Life Dedicated Server yet!"
I googled the above error and did not find anthing.
I changed the search to:
You haven't installed "Half-Life Dedicated Server" yet!
One of the hits was this link:
http://www.ladt.us/servers/hldscstrike.htm which talks about installing
hlserver4111.exe from fileplanet. I certianly did not do this.
I installed from the HldsUpdateTool.exe, which I downloaded from Steam.
So, after looking on the "Amx Mod X" wiki I am even more confused. As
the wiki defines the various options as follows:
You have an option of five different installation types. These
are:
Steam Dedicated Server - a server started from your Steam
Dedicated Server menu
Steam Listen Server - a listen server whereby your client is the
server
Standalone Server - a local server not started from the steam
menu (for example: C:\HLServer)
Select mod directory - manual installation selection
FTP - your server must be accessed through FTP
At the risk of trashing my configuration, I went ahead and selected
"Steam Dedicated Server" and then I got this error message:
You have to run Dedicated Server once before installing AMX Mod
X!
Well, I can tell you I run the server 7/24 so I must be missing
something...
Any thougths appreciated.
