I just did a totally clean steam (-beta srcds0407) install on a system,
installed CSS and then ran it.

It launched properly and arrived at the splash screen with no problem.

I then enabled the developers console, and the set net_graph 3 in console
and the client immediately crashed.

Just to confirm:

] version
Protocol version 7
Exe version 1.0.0.34 (cstrike)
Exe build: 11:51:38 Jun 3 2007 (3130)

That makes 5 different systems that all crash the same way with net_graph 3
set.

I've tested with 3 different clients so far, and none have experienced a
crash when trying to connect.

All 3 clients use net_graph 3, and are running the "-beta srcds0407"
switch.

If anyone feels like testing, I have a server setup with the latest
beta, with sv_pure 1 configured. Connect to 202.58.54.105:27015

Regards,
Adam.

OK, I tracked the crash down to a single setting in my client config.cfg
for CSS.

If you have net_graph set to anything except "0" it will cause the
crash.

I verified that changing this single parameter made all my other systems
crash the same way.

net_graph "3" does not cause HL2DM or DOD:S to crash however.

Cheers!

I have a second and third client on different machines that I just beta

updated and they both appear to run ok, although one of them crashed
out the first time I tried to connect to a server. The second time
it connected and ran fine.

The system that crashes has a 6800 Ultra with the latest vid drivers,
the ones that don't crash have a 6800Ultra or a 5900Ultra.

One symptom on the machine that crashes is that I get a splash
background but never see any text before it crashes.
I tried (with no change) -dev -condebug -toconsole -window -dxlevel 70

ah, the condebug helped and gave me this:

Okay, we will check it out.
