Hey, I've been trying to run a Condition Zero server without luck for quite a while. I've been able to run an Unreal Tournament server in the past, so it should be possible, and I'm familar with a lot of the setup necessary. I have a single static IP address for my LAN and ports 1200UDP and 27000-27050 TCP/UDP are all forwarded to the server machine. I've tried running the server from the main game menu, from the Steam->Tools->Dedicated Server option and using hlds.exe from the command-line. Each time, no-one outside my lan can join. I've tried turning off both Zone Alarm and Windows XP firewall. I've even tried using Hamachi. I don't know if the list is familar, but it essentially allows direct connections to be made between machines behind NAT routers. Funny thing is that when I create a Hamachi network with my friend whose on a college network, he still can't join a game I create, but I can join a game he created. It would suggest that the problem isn't my router, at least. Anyway, two things I'd like to ask the list: 1) Is there a tool on-line that can check if my server is accepting connections outside my LAN? It's a pain to arrange for my friend to connect everytime I make a change to see if it works. 2) Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong, or how I could find the source of the problem? The server is running Windows XP Service pack 2. I can supply more details if needed.
Cheers, Thomas. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
