Would a synflood affect the performance of srcds? Whatever it was was
causing srcds to spend tons of time between/during ticks and thus severely
reducing the FPS. Nobody was on the server which is why I thought it might
be queries but it could be something else like spamming connection attempts
or something -- I have no idea.

probably synflood. Put up a sniffer and see.
