I'm having a problem where every now and again 2 CSS servers on a single
dedicated box (running Ubuntu 7.04 on a custom kernel, see below) *hang* for
a few minutes. 1 of them is a less used clan server (24 man) and the other
is a popular 16 man 24/7 glassfun server (about 9 players average).

It tends to happen in the late afternoon / evenings (and once or twice late
at night). It doesn't seem to be related to the # of people on the servers -
although if the public clan server is busy it happens more often.. I think.

Both servers run Eventscripts (and an odd few custom scripts, ratemap,
addmap and XA to name 2) as well as Mani admin. I did think AddMap was the
problem (because it tries to ftp files in and out of the server) but it
wasn't (still happened with it unloaded).

It doesn't seem to happen at specific times either. I wondered if it was the
glassfun map change but it doesn't appear to be (besides we run a much
cleaned version of glassfun that I made that fixes a lot of the spare
entities etc. bugs & overflows).

Watching the processors what happens is the 2 srcds processes shoot up to
50% CPU each for a couple of minutes and everyone loses connection to the
server. So it is not a network issue.

I have just recompiled the ubuntu kernel on the box (so I can run 100Tic) -
this is really the only thing that has changed recently but I cant see how
it relates to my problem . The kernel was the same version (whatever one
7.04 uses) as previously on the PC and Ichanged NO settings except for the
stuff to run at 1000Hz

Any other ideas of what it could be? I'm totally stumped!

Cheers guys,
Tom
