Well, I can't answer your question because I'm not even into L4D 1, but
my recommendation would be to just discuss it with your community when
it gets a bit closer to release. Say in mid-late September, set up some
kind of poll, probably at outside forums if you have them (which I
assume you do if your community is over 100 people or so). Then, create
an event when you set up the poll and ask if your community members
would go vote on whether they would be A) buying L4D2, and B) what they,
personally, believe for the possible server situation. You may find out
that 90% of them are completely for switching to all L4D2 servers, or it
might be the complete opposite. The point is that your community can
best answer your question of whether you should switch servers or not.

And I know that you wanted no opinions on this, but I seriously doubt
that you'd be able to mix and match L4D 1&2 servers. To be honest, this
move from Valve surprised me, because its not consistent with the
standards that we -probably erroneously- hold them up to. But because
they decided on a whole new game, your *probably* going to have to treat
it as you would if they came out with TF3 right now. It would be a new
game, and you'd need new servers.

Good Luck.
