Just because he refuses to assume you're _NOT_ an idiot doesn't mean he's assuming you are, just that he's reserving judgement... though your attitude is rapidly removing doubt.
I've got an echo line in the top of each of my .cfg files, to make it easier when looking over the logs to see the flow of .cfg execution... otherwise, on windows anyway, I'd start up process monitor and check what files are accessed on mapchange.
