If anything, I'd prefer if the engine just had wrappers for the necessary file I/O so the necessary calls are always case insensitive, so all platforms behave the same regardless of other factors. Lowest common denominator, etc. I don't know if anything like this will ever be done with the HL engine, though. She's an old lady and people are familiar with her ways.
