I have to support Dawg in this quest for more information. Valve has
been very supportive in the past when it came to answering questions of
addon developers. But currently I feel a bit at a loss here. As far as I
understand this issue, the current Steam release of CS is only for the
beta and CS 1.6 will be available in the usual manner as a single
download, too. At least that is the information from Valve on this from,
like, a year ago.

This is all fine and dandy for the whining players but it is a little
unsatisfactory for addon developers who would like to test their stuff
with beta releases to see if they have to change anything in order to
keep compatible with the update.

I sure hope so, but, to be honest, I have no idea if that will be true.

Very good point. RL is using up more and more time and it is enough work
to support an addon with just a handful of developers already. I could
well do without having to try and make AM compatible with the HL/CS
update in a few days when the masses flood our forums and mailboxes
because it doesn't work anymore.

Releasing it for Win32 only doesn't really help, either. There are
people out here (me inclusive) that do all development on Linux
machines.

So, please, can we have some official info from Valve on your plans with
the CS and Steam updates? Please?

Florian.
