Remember that you have to upload this picture to your machine trough the server..can take some amount of time (since it's a bmp picture) and could cause lag (imagine downloading 16 pictures from all the players on the server..) Even if you got a T1 line, the client also need good upload, making it almost impossible for a 56K modem user. Valve could however implement some other kind of screen-checking, but downloading/uploading pictures will be hard unless all uses broadband
