So you suggest we permanently ban anyone who VAC detects as cheating?
Meaning that people, like myself, would no longer be able to play CS
until we either purchased a new CD for a new CD Key or stole one,
if we were cheating or if VAC had a false positive.

I may be biased, but I don't think that's a good idea until VAC is
100% accurate (which is highly improbably of ever becoming a reality.)
The way I understand it, that is how it works and I sincerely hope that it
is true. There are no second chances for cheaters, let them go to BF1942,
they will be looking for the hacks on those games before it is even
installed and I say good riddance.

I also heard mention of a end coming to CDkey switching so that won't be an
option and even if that is not true, the circulating CD keys are not that
great a number and it won't be long before they are all on the global ban list.

The good cheaters will never get caught if you even give one warning. The
only way VAC will catch them is because I assume it will be dynamically
updated. A cheat that was fine and used by thousands will suddenly become
detectable and VAC will ban 1%-2% of the cheaters using it before word gets
out and new hacks are made.

Catch them by surprise and execute on sight, that is the ONLY thing that
will ever make a significant impact on the cheating community.

There is no way to be a nice guy about this and win. HLGuard is
historically bypassed within hours of a new version, you don't invent a
better weapon and then sit around wondering if your mean enough to use it!
HLGuard would work fine in the same mode if it could globally ban. As it
is, a cheater gets nailed on one server and then patches his cheat or stops
using it until he can.

These are kids for the most part, kids with no responsibilities or jobs to
go to, kids that have nothing better to do than hack out cheat code all
night long. You can't hire enough people to compete with that kind of
coding team so the only alternative is to be absolutely ruthless. The
cheaters will move on to other games and the HL mod world will be a better
place.

I honestly believe the vast majority of people caught by VAC and swearing
up and down that they don't cheat are guilty. Our prisons are full of
innocent people, just ask anyone there.

Half of them probably don't even stop and think about the fact that they
gave copies to six people at school last year so if any of them get caught
cheating, all six are banned. Maybe five of them never installed a cheat in
their life including the guy who actually bought the CD. In his mind he has
had a horribly unjust action taken against him and is screaming bloody
murder. After all, he don't cheat, all he did was steal $120.00 bucks worth
of software.
