Wondering if there is anything that maybe isn't ideal for pubs that might make my private server run smoother? My server runs fine but sometimes people get choke. Currently running pingboost 2, maxrate 12000, maxupdaterate 101..
Anything else?
A lot of "L33t" players copy some Heaton config of the net with insane settings like rate 25000 and cmd & update @ 101 without really having the hardware and/or bandwidth required for such settings. On 99% of the servers out there it won't matter, since they will be limited to not allow such high values, but since yours doesn't have the limits, these people will get choke/loss whatever on your server. Since their settings works on 99% of the servers "obviously" it's YOUR server being broken (and they will let you know in a rude manner).
Good luck in trying to educate your visitors about how to configure their systems correctly (or take the easy way out and reduce those maxvalues making the ignorant whiners happy since the choke will "magically" dissapear).
