So why should people with low last octet be in favor over those in higher octet?
It all comes down to this. Either they like to play on the server, or they dont... It has nothing todo with the last octet, or that people choose servers due to they comming up first in the list.. I have packed servers since day one. I did not benefit of the low last octet system. Mine are using 240+ and where packed. Why, you ask? Due to active admins, good server config and getting a good reputation out. Once a server have active and responsible admins, there will be players on the servers... Reputation and active admins is the key to having the server populated. I know servers that are almost unplayable that are packed every evening due to active administration to make the server as friendly as possible. So whining about how the last octet changed your server to the ground zero, is not the way to go. Most of the regular non-elite-dood players are choosing their server due to recommendation from friends and thru reputation. Just hard work and active admins will give you players on your servers. /Bjorn On Sun, 7 Nov 2004, Toker wrote: > That has got to be the dumbest damn thing I have read on this list. > > I have a website and forums, both of which have plenty of registered users. > In Aril, the server list was sorted by the last octet of the ip address. > So, folks whose ip adresses were x.x.x.1 or x.x.x.2 where listed WAY before > people whose last octet ended in anything higher than 100.
