Firstly by way of update, as of this morning that steam account's VAC status has returned to "In good standing". I'm assuming this is temporary and that it was the imposing/notification of already recorded bans that "escaped the bag" so to speak. Secondly, whilst the ban was in place yesterday I could connect to ALL of my favourite servers with that steamid, most of which run -vacbeta. So at least you know that part didn't slip out with him. Thirdly, although most likely unrelated. That steam account's steam password was reset by the steamsupport team yesterday morning "in the course of testing something", this was after the ban occured/appeared. I logged in and changed the password immediately as suggested.
