seeing as hl2.exe and datacache.dll are both windows files then maybe you
need to
1. post in the windows mailing list or
2. install the linux files

all depending on your system...

Indeed I tried to run a Source engine based game called Counter-Strike:
Source for the last weeks. But two little folks called hl2.exe and
datacache.dll keep me from doing that.

Yes, you are right, I already mentioned it on hlds_linux (like hundreds
of other people did in the valve forums). But I didn't see any response,
neither at this location nor at the forums.

This update didn't fix this known problem (there are more than 14.000
views on the corresponding threads in the valve forums), it rather seems
to worsen stability concerns.

It would be nice to get any kind of reaction on this attempt. Even the
nicest eye candy (like HDR) is worth nothing if you can't run the game.
