Intel ICH8 is the chipset.

I don't know exactly what happens, but it seems hlds/srcds opens the map
files in write mode. Then something bad happens with the SATA drivers and
the map files are changed on the disk. This is what I think what happens in
this case, but I can be wrong. The fact is, after this, the files are really
changed on disk, you can compare the old and new files and see the
difference.

What chipset are you using? That seems a little strange considering I
haven't run into any problems with other hlds game types. I'll give it a
try anyway.

What is the mechanism that hlds uses to check/hash maps? Is it possible to
be implemented differently from kernel to kernel?

Sam
Seems to be a kernel problem, possible the SATA drivers. We had the same
problem with kernel 2.6.22 and we switched back to kernel 2.6.20, which
rocks solid.

>/ Hi,
/>/
/>/ Running Debian on a 2.6.24.1 kernel, and clients are complaining of
/>/ receiving the error "Map $MAP differs from server". This happens
after a
/>/ map change and all clients receive the error. It doesn't seem to be
map
/>/ specific. Removing the $MAP from the server and updating seems to fix
/>/ the error, however this is far from satisfactory. Has anyone else had
/>/ this problem? What is a possible fix?
/>/
/>/ Sorry if this has been posted before but I didn't find anything in
the
/>/ archives.
