Well actually you can get commercial support for linux. And I've never gotten the kind of support from MS as I do from the Ubuntu community. (Sorry had to throw that in there).

Sound quality is all about the codecs. They are not the same but with best codec TS has, you hardly notice any difference for those that Ventrilo uses. Mostly it is a myth but about TS getting actively developed, thats not exactly true.
