Turns out it's not the new cvar that broke A2S_INFO. For some reason, my two password-protected servers are not responding to this query following the update. Having sv_password set seems to be the problem. Can anyone else confirm this?
Also, note that the new cvar is NOT sv_gametype as stated in Jason's e-mail. It's actually sv_gametypes (with an 's' on the end).
