Dont think about using realtime patch, it will kill your CPU in notime (or, og ahead and try it, but expect loaaad)
HRTS = On IRQ balancing wouldnt do that much difference afaik. I dont change it from default value of whatever kernel i am using. Just remember to set the HZ to 1000 :---) -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] På vegne av Kveri Sendt: 20. april 2009 17:10 Til: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list Emne: Re: [hlds_linux] Kernel Question What do you think.. thank you both. I saw on http://wiki.fragaholics.de/index.php/EN:Linux_Kernel_Optimization (which is linked from http://www.howto-cs16-root.de/) that last "good" kernel is 2.6.26.8, which you're using (and I'm going to use it too :). Also I've read both instructions how to configure a good kernel for gameserver, but I found some incompatibilies/differencies. 1. High Resolution Timer Support - this is ON on fragaholics.de and OFF on howto-cs16-root.de, what do you guys use? Or what do you think about it? 2. Enable kernel irq balancing - I don't have this on 2.6.26.8, maybe it's hidden because of some other selection, so I don't know what I'm using (and maybe it's ON), please could you send me that CONFIG_***** line from your .config or make menuconfig -> processor type and features -> enable kernel irq balancing -> help, so I can look at it. 3. What about RealTime patch? I haven't tested it yet, but I will. Thanks.
