The bots (boomer,hunter, smoker, tank) have always been shown in the server console if you type status there and some server plugins even show when "bot connected to the game" aka spawned in (kinda lame). However, since crash course update, even prog like HLSW shows them as actual players. Once they are killed, they seem to be going away in it, though. Dave is right, something has changed.
