No rush.
We've been waiting for bugfixes & update for years, so a weak or two, won't kill us :)

Crashhandler.so is our support library for the generation of crash
dumps using the google breakpad library so we get good reporting for
crashes in the field.

Now back to more important stuff :)

What is crashhandler.so for?
Servers still crashing probably cause of crappy written amxx
plugins
and
it would be nice if there was a metod to detect those plugins (and
yeah,
not by disabling them one by one).

I expect a lot of CSS players moan about CS2 when it's out as
it's
"too

There is a lot of cheaters in 1.6. Or they should make CS2 so
they
can
make money again on 1.6 players.

I'm not saying CS 1.6 is irrelevant; I shouldn't have
compared it
to
Quake 2 and that was my mistake. Yes, CS 1.6 is hugely
popular
worldwide, and yes, it's still a great game. But Valve is in
the
business of making money, and how much does Valve make off of
CS
1.6
these days compared to its other products? Probably not
much. I
think
this game has become a monkey on Valve's back, so to speak.
It's
still
very popular and it has a tremendous following, but the
actual
revenue
they bring in from it is small. Most software companies
don't
support
their products nearly as long Valve has been supporting CS.

That's why I'm saying that we're lucky they even work on it
at
all.
They could just as easily throw their hands up in the air and
say
they're done working on it. People would still buy new
games,
Valve
would continue to make money, and we would be stuck with bugs
that will
never get fixed. So, instead of insulting them for not doing
this work
sooner, it seems like we should be thanking them for doing
this
work at
all. We're not paying them to use the game once we've bought
it,
and
we're not paying them for the server stuff at all.

Ok, I understand you, but Counter-Strike was the most
played
game in
The STEAM before TF2 F2P, and now it is in second place,
so
VALVe
SHOULD release bugfixes and support this game, and I think
this game
is most popular First Person Shooter in The World, because
there are
a lot of non-steam players, thousands of them ...

I don't want to get into a flame war here, but seriously,
Counter
Strike
is how old now? I think we're lucky that Valve is still
putting
effort
into it, and insulting Alfred for doing this work now
instead
of
two
years ago isn't productive. I'm sure everyone at Valve,
including
Alfred, has better (and more profitable) things to work
on in
the
last
few years. Complaining to Valve about the lack of fixes
in CS
is
like
complaining to id Software about a bug in Quake 2. It
doesn't
even
make
sense.

We have released an update to the beta, run the
hldsupdatetool with
"-beta hlbeta" to get this update. Changes for this
update are:
- fixed failing to load steam interfaces on windows
(updated
steamclient binaries) (win32)
- statically linked libsteam.so to libstdc++ so you
don't need to
update it (linux)

Let us see if this one sticks.
