There is a delay between version checking. So the "server out of date" message won't appear immediately.
You could make a script run the "heartbeat" command every X seconds, however I'm not sure if that's safe. The master server might not like it being spammed with heartbeats. You would also be re-registering the server with the master everytime the command is run. Again I don't know if this would cause problems like the server disappearing temporarily or not.
